On The Contrary

We are delighted to announce the upcoming debate event, "On the Contrary," organized by the Professional Development Department. Scheduled for 30th July, 2023, this thrilling competition will feature the dynamic debate style of spontaneous argumentation, where teams of two will engage in thought-provoking discussions. 

To participate, teams are required to register with a nominal fee of Rs. 200 per team (Rs. 100 per person). As an incentive, every participant will receive a well-deserved certificate for their involvement. 

For those who showcase exemplary skills in the art of argumentation:

There will be prestigious certificates of merit awarded to the winners and runners-up, along with impressive medals. Not to mention:

Winning team will be honored with a grand prize of Rs. 2000,

Runner-up team will be rewarded with Rs. 1000.

 It's an excellent opportunity for aspiring debaters to showcase their talent and analytical prowess, so don't miss out on this remarkable event! Prepare your arguments, register your team, and get ready to engage in compelling debates that challenge conventional wisdom. Rules and regulations :

• Topics will be given on the spot - 15 to 20 mins prior to your slot when the research can be done.

•  The SPAR Debate speech format:

Affirmative Case -- 3 minutes

Rebuttal – 1.5 minutes

Negative Case -- 3 minutes

Rebuttal – 1.5 minutes

Negative Counter-Arguments -- 2 minutes

Affirmative Counter-Arguments -- 2 minutes

Negative Closing Statement – 2 minutes

Affirmative Closing Statement – 2 minutes

Total time for each debate : 17 minutes
